Why Do Chinchillas Need A Dust Bath?
In their native arid environment, chinchillas keep themselves clean by rolling in volcanic ash. Due to the density of their fur, chinchillas should never be bathed in water. Water can become trapped within a chinchilla's fur and can lead to numerous health issues. Oxbow's Poof! Blue Cloud Chinchilla Dust allows your pet to clean itself safely and naturally.
How Does Blue Cloud Chinchilla Dust Work?
Blue Cloud Chinchilla Dust safely penetrates your pet chinchilla's dense fur.
Dust particles collect excess oil, dirt and moisture to keep your pet clean, healthy and happy.
The Dust particles fall away naturally, taking dirt, and oil with them.
Ingredients
100% Blue Cloud Dust
Directions: Bathe your chinchilla 2-4 times per week to remove excess oil and dirt and ensure the softness and healthy condition of his fur. For bathing, use an appropriate dust bath house or stable container which cannot be tipped over. Remove dust bath house from cage after 3-5 minutes to avoid soiling and over-exposure to dust. If dust is soiled, remove and replace. Use 1 inch of dust in the bath house or container for best results. Oxbow recommends that you consult your veterinarian before using any chinchilla dust bath product if your pet is not acting normally, or is sick.
Helpful Poop Cleaning Tip!
Chinchillas will often leave presents behind in their dust bath, which unless soiled can be used a few times before changing for clean bath dust. At Flower Town Chinchillas, we have found that the best way of removing poops from the bath dust is to use an olive spoon. Stainless steel olive spoons can be purchased at most grocery house ware stores for a couple dollars. The small holes in the scoop like spoon allow the bath dust to filter back into their bath leaving just the poops in the spoon.
